A Secret Service officer who was suspended following an April arrest for allegedly trying to break into his girlfriend's house was shot and killed Tuesday in Washington, D.C., authorities confirmed.
The victim was identified as Arthur Baldwin, 29, a member of the Uniformed Division of the U.S. Secret Service. The shooting occurred along 1st Street, and authorities were looking for three men following the deadly encounter.
Metropolitan Police, which is investigating the shooting, confirmed that the shooting victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
It's unclear what sparked the shooting.
